Anita Sarmah

As Course Director and Simulation Lead UME Anesthesia, Dr. Anita Sarmah is a passionate Clinician Educator. She is proud to lead her amazing committee through their many achievements; not least the first Flipped Classroom in MD clerkship, presented nationally at the Canadian Conference in Medical Education (CCME) Vancouver 2015 and internationally at the International Association for Medical Education (AMEE) Glasgow 2015. As part of the Sunnybrook Simulation Centre's team, she developed the intensive UME Anesthesia Simulation program presented at International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) Ottawa 2014, AMEE 2014. Other innovation has centred around optimising the learning environment, presented at CCME 2021. She was part of the pilot ultrasound project that spear-headed the U of T undergraduate ultrasound curriculum, presented at AMEE Prague 2013 and 2nd World Congress Ultrasound in Medical Education, Oregon 2013. In 2022, she became the Chair of the UME section of ACUDA, Academic Canadian university departments of Anesthesia. In her spare time she is the Founder and Faculty lead of IG @anesthesiagram with over 5k followers.
