2026 CREMS Program - Research Project Catalogue & Application Information
The Comprehensive Research Experience for Medical Students (CREMS) Summer Research Program provides opportunities each year for medical students enrolled at the University of Toronto to participate in a full-time summer research project between their first and second year, or second and third year of medical school, under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The CREMS Program is only open to current University of Toronto students. The program runs for 10 weeks from June to August.
Please review the approved faculty projects list for Summer 2026.
- Detailed descriptions of each project can be found in Sharepoint: 2026 CREMS - Approved Projects (listed by Project ID number).
- As pairings are approved, the project list will be updated to reflect which projects are closed for application (i.e. a student has been selected for the role).
Once you have identified which projects you would like to work on, please follow the application instructions below:
- As of March 30, you may begin to contact supervisors of the project(s) that interest you to set up an interview at the supervisor’s convenience. Please contact the supervisor(s) listed on the proposal directly, include your resume and request an interview.
- Interviews must not occur until April 6 or later. We ask that supervisors meet with interested students and select which student they feel is best suited for the project. Pre-determined pairings will not accepted.
- Once a student is selected, supervisors must advise the CREMS office by email (crems.programs@utoronto.ca). All student/supervisor pairings must be confirmed by May 4. In their email, supervisors must include the following details:
- A list of all students (minimum 5) who were interviewed for the project
- The name of the selected student
- Mentor Agreement Form – signed by both the supervisor and student. This form outlines that the supervisor and student agree to work with each other, they understand the expectations of the program, and that the supervisor agrees to pay a stipend of $3,250. The remaining $2,750 will be paid by the CREMS program.
- Once the student/supervisor pair is confirmed by the program, please ensure you set-up an orientation meeting ahead of the project start date to ensure you are properly set-up and have the access you need.
If you have any questions or require further information, please contact crems.program@utoronto.ca.
